Hopi Native American Bear Paw Sterling Silver Pendant Handcrafted Signed

Junior Soahe, a Hopi Native American artist, handcrafted this rectangular, sterling silver, overlay Badger Bear Paw pendant with a brushed satin finish.  The overlay technique entails using a jeweler's handsaw to cut a design into a sheet of sterling silver, then soldering the sheet over the top of a second, like-sized sheet of sterling silver to form the recessed design.  Badger bear tracks signify health, strength, authority and leadership.

Joe Josytewa lives in a small village called Shungopavi, which is on the Second Mesa of the Hopi Reservation that is located in Northeastern Arizona.  He belongs to the Snow Flake Clan.  Joe Josytewa signs each of his handcrafted pieces with his personal hallmark, a snowflake.
